ABOUT THE WOODLANDS GOLF COURSE
A favorite with locals, The Woodlands offers an excellent test of shot making, can always be counted on to be in great condition and provides fun for everyone of all ages.
The Woodlands is an 18-hole, par 69, 5,400-yard golf course with Bentgrass greens and Bermuda fairways and rough. Water comes into play on 11 of the holes and the 52 sand bunkers create surprising challenges on this sometimes underestimated golf course.
Only minutes from the attractions of downtown Hampton, The Woodlands is host to the Hampton Amateur and the Peninsula Women’s Championship Tournaments and is listed in Golf Magazine as one of “the First 100 Clubs in America”, having been originally built in 1916. Donald Ross designed the original course and the current design was completed by Ed Ault in 1973. The course serves as a true test of golf for all skill levels.
The Woodlands’ Tournaments
The Woodlands is home to a number of popular area tournaments, among them, the Hampton Amateur, The Peninsula Women’s Championship, and the Virginia Tech Alumni. The clubhouse offers a grille with dining room, dining patio, meeting room and well stocked pro shop offering women’s and men’s clothing and golfing accessories.
The Grille at The Woodlands can provide great catering for your next tournament, whether buffet or boxed lunch. Breakfast and lunch is served daily and is open to the public. The conference room is also available for community groups with a large conference table and seating for up to 18. The Hampton Lions Club holds monthly dinner meetings at The Grille.
